Welcome to an online seminar about the carbon project lifecycle

You are warmly invited to an online seminar on Carbon project lifecycle & Early risk screening in an Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land-Use (AFOLU) context, hosted by Vi Agroforestry Expert Desk, supported by Sida's Regional Team Environment.

Date and time: 25 August, 09:30–11:00 CET
Format: Online seminar

Registration: To register, please sign up here. The meeting link will be shared with registered participants ahead of the session.

The webinar will provide participants with an overview of the carbon project lifecycle, helping them understand where risks, challenges, and key decisions typically arise – especially in AFOLU contexts where many development programmes operate and where carbon component integration could be an option.

The session introduces a simple, hands-on screening tool developed by Vi Agroforestry, supported by concrete examples. Together, these equips participants to ask the right questions early on and to navigate potential carbon initiatives in a more informed and critical way to ensure high integrity of such initiatives.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Get a clear sense of how to approach carbon-related elements when they appear in programmes or proposals
  • Strengthen your ability to judge whether an initiative aligns with high-integrity expectation
  • Increase the capacity to determine whether (and how) a carbon component is relevant in your context
  •  Feel more confident when engaging with partners and stakeholders on carbon components

This webinar is primarily for Sida staff, Swedish embassies, and their partners, and is tailored to the needs and entry points of development cooperation actors.

To register, please sign up here

We look forward to your participation.

Important to note:

This webinar builds on content introduced in a previous session. To ensure a shared basic understanding and allow us to focus on practical application, we kindly ask you to review selected recordings from the introductory webinar in advance (total 30 min):

1. Introduction to carbon markets and carbon offset

2. Developing a carbon project

3. Climate policy and national legislations

4. Checklist for assessing carbon project proposals

These recordings serve as a foundation, while the webinar on 25 August will build further and go more in-depth, with a stronger focus on practical application.
